A business without marketing...
Purple started six years ago and has benefited from continued growth year on year, then BANG!!! The CREDIT CRUNCH arrived. Like many businesses, we suffered a huge drop in sales from October 2008 going right through to February this year. As we supply marketing merchandise it was one of the first areas of spending that businesses (our customers) cut back... ‘it was like the tap had been turned off’.
So one very good and important thing then took place during this painful slump, we suddenly had time on our hands. So what did we do? We regrouped our troops for the first time in years and had some very useful meetings about our future and where our real strengths as a company were. We revised our prices to give even better deals to customers and streamlined our order processing to provide a second-to-none service.
Our customers, realising the importance of upping their marketing activities during a slump, started to come back. When there are fewer people spending it is more important than ever to RAISE YOUR PROFILE. ‘A business without marketing is like waving in the dark, you know what you are doing but nobody else does’ a quote I love.
Now ten months down the line we are stronger, slicker and better than ever. We have just taken on an additional 1500 sq ft production and storage facility behind our main building to better serve our growing customer base.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
